“Your environment affects you, no matter where you are”
In Cape Town (where I reside) my treatment room is on a farm in Durbanville. As you enter you are welcomed with the sight of horses, rolling hills and a sense of peace. Many times during sessions the sheep or cows will be herded past the window. It’s not only the children that react with enthusiasm to this sight ;). As I write this I am listening to a cock crowing, a dove cooing and many other birds twittering away in the aviary opposite.
When visiting Joburg I consult from Sacred Spiral Yoga Shala in Jukskei Park. Paul Carlos has really made his venue warm and inviting. I love the white pebbles surrounding the stepping logs which lead you to the wooden studio. The beams of the studio give warmth and support while the open views on the front and side gives one the opportunity to extend ones self. This interplay of expanding and contracting creates a natural rhythm of giving and receiving. The studio overlooks a small zen garden. It is no wonder I am looking forward to my next day of kinesiology consultations @ Sacred Spiral on Thursday 30 August.
When you have an online session with me I will encourage you to have a landscape picture nearby to look at it. This can be a poster, photograph or even a digital image on the screen. Looking across a horizontal plane assists your vision and mind to stretch you in a way that is nourishing for your body.
