Circadian Rhythms

Your sleep/wake cycle is part of your circadian rhythm.  This is governed by your body clock.
Chinese medicine indicates that different organs are active at different times of the day.
Supporting the active organs creates wellness in the body and mind.
5-7am Large Intestine : perfect time for herbal teas or lemon water, to stimulate elimination.
7-9am Stomach : perfect time to have your breakfast
9-11am Spleen : perfect time to let the digestive system rest and hydrate yourself.
11am – 1pm Heart : perfect time to exercise
1 – 3pm Small Intestine : perfect time to eat your biggest meal of the day, lunch.
3 – 5pm Bladder : perfect time to hydrate yourself and let the digestive system rest.
5-7pm Kidney : perfect time for your light evening meal to assist detoxification process of the day.
7-9pm Circulatory system : perfect time time go for a gentle stroll
9 – 11pm Immune System : perfect time to wind down your day and say good night
11pm – 1am Gall bladder : perfect time to enter first phase of sleep
1 – 3am Liver : perfect time to be in deep sleep to allow liver to detox (if you are regularly waking at this time it means your liver may be over active, i.e. you need a detox)
3 – 5am Lungs : perfect time to wake and engage in gentle movement.
