7 ways to relieve anxiety and stress during lockdown

The techniques below are proven to lower mental stress and emotional anxiety.

When not released, stress will build up in the body and may result in :
tension points
twitches
stiffness
headaches
stomach pains
muscle cramps
earache
toothache
sinus
back pain
bladder infections
… to name a few examples.

Here are 7 easy ways to shed stress, tension and anxiety and replace it with feeling more grounded and calm.

  1. Allow – when you feel yourself wanting to cry or tremble, do it.  Allow yourself the opportunity to listen to your body and respond.  Suppression creates more stress so replace it with a channel of release.

  2. Breathe – take a long, slow deep in breath and hold it for as long as is comfortable before gently exhaling.  This calms the heart and the nervous system and literally clears the brain too.  Repeat this for 2 minutes.

  3. Choose healthy food – avoid caffeine, sugar and stimulants which all add stress to the adrenals and increase anxiety.

  4. Dance, move, exercise – the more you move the more the stress is able to move out of the body.

  5. Enjoy uplifting music and stories – fill your mind with positive words.

  6. Feel good – laugh, laugh, laugh. Laughter from the belly for 3 minutes a day is an immune booster and a feel-good stress release.

  7. Give and get hugs – touch is an oxytocin stimulant, also known as the love hormone.  An instant feel good.  Touch, of course, can be between humans or animals and humans.

    Love yourself enough to invest in a healthy state of mind and regular stress-release exercises.
